Importing and usage guides
Quick setup notes for installing the After Effects presets and Topaz settings included in the pack.
Importing After Effects presets
Most After Effects presets are installed by placing the preset files in your User Presets folder, then restarting After Effects.
- Windows: copy the preset files into your After Effects User Presets folder. Common path: Documents\Adobe\After Effects [version]\User Presets Replace [version] with your actual AE version number (e.g. 2024, 2025).
- Mac: copy the preset files into your After Effects User Presets folder. Common path: Documents/Adobe/After Effects [version]/User Presets Replace [version] with your actual AE version number (e.g. 2024, 2025).
- Open After Effects, then use the Effects & Presets panel to search for the preset name.
- .ffx animation presets can also be applied via Animation > Apply Animation Preset.
Importing Topaz settings
Topaz settings are imported inside Topaz Video AI. Apply them there, export the upscaled clip, then bring the result into After Effects.
- Quit Topaz Video AI if it is running — it only loads new presets from disk on startup.
- Copy 411 - Main Topaz.json from the pack's Topaz/Preset folder into your Topaz Video AI presets folder.
- Windows: common preset folder location. C:\ProgramData\Topaz Labs LLC\Topaz Video AI\presets You may need to grant permission when copying into ProgramData.
- Mac: presets may live inside the app package. Applications/Topaz Video AI.app/Contents/Resources/presets
- Open Topaz Video AI, choose your clip, select the imported preset, then export the upscaled clip.
- Bring the finished export back into After Effects.
Colorings and compatibility
The colorings and CCs are curated for After Effects version 23 and up. That is where they are intended to look correct.
Older After Effects versions may still open some files, but the final look can shift. Missing plugins can also change how a coloring or effect appears.
